PADI Open Water Certification
The Open Water Diver course is for those interested in recreational scuba diving. The course content covers all the basic dive skills and information needed to safely visit the underwater world, it also serves as a prerequisite to more advanced levels of training. There are three parts to the training; knowledge development (whether in the classroom, online or tablet based), pool skills development, and four open water dives. Upon completion, you will receive a PADI Open Water Diver certification which is recognized world-wide.

Prerequisites:
- Student must be 10 years of age by the start date of class
- Student must be proficient in swimming (200 yard swim & 10 min. tread)
- Complete necessary paperwork before being able to enter the pool
- Students have to complete the classroom and pool session before scheduling their open water dives

Other Stuff You Should Know:
Students who complete either the online or tablet based session will need to schedule an orentational meeting, where we will do a quick review of your online quizzes and schedule your pool and open water dives.
All students must provide their own mask, snorkel, fins and boots for the pool and open water dives. MSD sells these items, and we will take the time to make sure everything is sized properly and is appropriate for it's intended use (warm water, cold water, or both). The best thing though... MSD students recieve a 10% discount on any equipment purchases - up until 30 days after completion of the open water dives.
Traditional Classroom
MSD offers the PADI Open Water Diver Course in a traditional classroom setting. We feel that nothing can replace the insight gained from having a living, breathing instructor available in the classroom. An instructor will convey the information in a manner that has been shaped by their real world experiences, and an instructor will also provide more specific information about our local environment, as well as popular warm-water destinations.

eLearning
For those people who have a difficult time schedule or for whatever reason can't make our weekend class time frame work for them, PADI offers a program in which students can complete most of the academic portions of the dive class online. While this option may be slightly more expensive, many people find that the convenience of a flexible "learn when you want" schedule is worth it. Obviously you can't dive online, so you will still need to meet with us at MSD to complete your pool and open water sessions. To start your online training, click on this link. Once on PADI's site, select "Purchase an Online Course - eLearning." From the drop down select "Open Water Diver - English." Then click "Buy Now."
Make sure you have chosen MSD as your dive shop before completing your purchase to avoid paying additional fees.
