If you are a dive group of no more than two or three vehicles and of which have good ground clearance, Diamond Cove is an ideal location for the shallow diver as well as the deep diver The gearing-up, walk down, and water-entry features of this site are exceptionally easy. This site is really the topside end of a roadway as leads into the mine pit, descending to areas beyond the weed line. Following this roadway and its shore side slope makes for a great shallow dive that is easy to navigate. For the deeper diver, you need only to slip over the berm of the roadway and you experience a near vertical drop on a nicely structured wall.Diamond Cove also offers deeper divers several tunnels (mine drifts) between 35-90 feet. Do not enter these tunnels – THEY ARE UNSTABLE. Bring a light – it is dark at 90 feet. Bring a scarf – it is cold at 90 feet. A word of caution. Heading out of the entry point to the left you will find a submerged roadway. If you choose to dive the wall side of the road (vs. the shore side of the road) be aware that the road turns abruptly to the North and will lead you out into the middle of the pit. This will mostly result in a free ascent without reference and a long surface swim. |
