Boot Sucker (Joan)
Parking for this site is on the road.  You will have to portage your gear over the small berm in front of this site.  The name of this site should give you some idea as to what the entry is like; it is pretty nasty but the diving in Joan is often very good.  Once you are past the sometimes muddy gearing-up area and the quite shallow and very mucky bottom of the shoreline, it is an easy swim to an exceptional wall which provides some interesting geological structure.  A shallower dive in one direction will take you to an embankment of rocky rubble and fallen timber.  A shallower dive in the other direction will take you to a sloping bottom that is covered with vegetation; vegetation that serves as home to several species of fish.

You can also reach the Ford F350 that is in about 35 feet of water from this site.  It was discovered in the Spring of 2005 and is worth taking a look at.

Joan is a relatively small pit and can be circled on most dives in a little over an hour.  (Be aware that your depth, air consumption and swim speed is different than ours and calculate accordingly.)  Keeping this mind you may want to  enter at one of the other sites on Joan; Gruntenheave or Safe Cracker.
